How We Got Started

Prior to running an advertising agency, I used to be an ad executive for CBS and FOX TV stations, working primarily with auto dealers. One night I was watching the FOX hit TV Show “24” and seen several commercials for the all-new Hyundai Genesis.

By the time I had seen the 4th commercial, I did exactly what those commercials told me to do; I went to the website to get more information.

Then, it hit me like a sledgehammer. No local dealer invited me to their dealership to test drive this remarkable automobile or directed me to their web site. Some local Hyundai dealer ignored me. I was an “up” and no one asked me if I wanted to take it for a test drive. It was a huge missed opportunity.

After doing extensive research I built what I call the Top Down Automotive Marketing Funnel. And it works!

The Opportunity

When an auto manufacturer airs a national spot, it is a great opportunity to take ownership of that national campaign by simply inserting your own message, in that same program, and drive “aware” viewers to your showroom or your website.

The national commercial (tier one) makes them aware of that great new car or truck. The dealer group / LMA spots (tier two) also raise awareness of that great car or truck and promote the local incentives. Your commercials (tier three) tell them where they can go to test drive and buy that great car or truck. All you have to do is “piggyback” the tier one and tier two media buys and take ownership.

Tier one, Tier two, and Tier three advertising, when properly aligned can create a top-down marketing funnel that leads in market car buyers to your dealership. Use your co-op funds and this plan can drive down your CPVDR.
